Azerbaijan Purchases Super Mushshaks

Azerbaijan has signed an agreement with Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) on the purchase of 10 Super Mushshak trainer aircraft.

PAC announced in a press release on July 27, 2017 that it had inked an agreement with Azeri officials on the sale. Present at a signing ceremony were Air Marshal Arshad Malik who represented Pakistan and Azeri Air Force commander Lieutenant General Ramiz Tahirov.

In addition to the 10 aircraft, the contract entails the provision of operational training as well as support services to Azerbaijan's Air Force.

Baku has also been interested in purchasing the JF-17, a fighter jet, but has not yet signed a contract for the purchase of the aircraft.

PAC has secured a number of orders for the Super Mushshak in the last few years. In 2016, both Qatar and Nigeria placed orders for the trainer. Doha purchased eight, the first of which began arriving earlier this month. Nigeria purchased 10 and similarly its first batch arrived earlier in July.

In 2017, PAC inked a contract with Turkey for the sale of 52 Super Mushshaks.
